Just a few days back, we featured KeepScreen here on the Portal. That app allowed you to keep the screen of your Android device awake for select apps. While that app is immensely useful as it is, at times you might want to keep the screen awake for an extended period of time, regardless of the apps you use in that duration. Frustrated by the lack of any such app, XDA Member DoubleP90 decided to build his own, and shared it with us.

Wakey does one thing only and does it well, and this minimalistic philosophy is obvious on the app’s home screen. Once you launch the app, you will be presented with a bulb. Tap it to enable the app’s only feature, which is to keep the screen awake. Now go ahead and use any app on your device. As long as Wakey is running and enabled, the screen will stay on.

Once you’re done with whatever you are doing, and want to set things back to normal, just tap once more on the bulb icon in Wakey, and the screen will return to its normal timeout behavior. This is certainly much more convenient than traversing the settings menu to access this feature.
